Who Am I:

Living in the Middle of Two Worlds

By Sherif Francis

A raw, deeply personal journey through addiction, faith, identity, loss, and the fight to find your way back to yourself.

Sherif Francis has lived on both sides of himself.

He has experienced addiction and sobriety. Faith and doubt. Darkness and light. Destruction and rebuilding. He has lost himself, found pieces of himself, and questioned almost everything he thought he knew along the way.

Who Am I: Living in the Middle of Two Worlds was born from that journey.

Who Am I isn't written by someone standing safely on the other side with all the answers. It's written by someone who knows what it means to still be in the fight. Through an unfiltered account of addiction, self-destruction, loss, spirituality, and the struggle to understand his own mind, Sherif shares what he has learned in the hope that someone else might recognize themselves in his story and realize that they still have time.

Maybe that person is you. Or maybe it's someone you love. If you've watched a child, parent, partner, sibling, or friend disappear into addiction, this book offers a glimpse of that struggle from the inside: the contradictions, the pain, the desire to change, and the pull toward familiar darkness even when you desperately want something better. About Sherif Francis

Sherif Francis is a New York-based writer, first-time author, and longtime hospitality professional whose life has taken him through very different worlds. Born into a Coptic Christian family, faith was part of his life from an early age, although his relationship with God, religion, and spirituality has changed dramatically throughout his life.

Sherif spent much of his professional career in the restaurant industry, including years in management and working as a chef. Behind that professional life, however, was a much more complicated personal story. He writes candidly about the reality that understanding what is destroying you and knowing how to stop it are two very different things.

His search for an answer became Who Am I: Living in the Middle of Two Worlds, a deeply personal exploration of addiction, recovery, faith, identity, self-worth, spirituality, and the battle that can take place within our own minds.

Sherif is also intensely interested in people and the human experience . This curiosity led to conversations with 1000’s of people while on his path of recovery and their stories helped shape Who Am I.

He wrote the book particularly for people struggling with addiction, depression, isolation, self-destructive patterns, and the people who love them.

At the center of Sherif's writing is a simple belief: your past may explain who you have been, but it does not have to decide who you become.
